Hello everyone! We are back in the city after an amazing summer of touring Gathering
Light to Edmonton, Ottawa and the Yukon as well as sharing it with Vancouver audiences
during the launch of our annual fundraiser in North Vancouver with our new partners
at Presentation House Theatre! Thank-you once again to everyone who came out to support us!

We hope that you all have had a great summer too and now as we head into September
we are excited to share with you our upcoming performances and dance classes happening
in Vancouver.

We’ll be in touch again soon with more news about our upcoming Fall season and some
exciting projects on the horizon.

Upcoming Performances:

Saturday September 15th at 2pm at the Dance Centre Open House!

A mixed program of contemporary Aboriginal dance with 3 beautiful pieces from
choreographers, Michelle Olson & Floyd Favel (Frost Exploding Trees Moon), Starr Muranko
(before7after)and Margaret Grenier (Spirit Transforming).

Performance will be 1 hour in length followed by an artist Q&A hosted by Diane Roberts
(Artistic Director or urbanink). All activities at the Dance Centre that day (including
our show) are open to the general public and FREE! Hope to see you there – more

Sunday September 30th – 12pm to 4pm Trolley Dances on the Northshore!

We are excited to be a part of this new initiative with the North Vancouver Community
Arts Council where Raven Spirit will be sharing a site-specific adaptation of Frost
Exploding Trees Moon with traditional storytelling and live singing with Bob Baker
of the Squamish Nation who will be joining Michelle for this very special
collaboration.

Save the date!
November 18th 3-4pm at the Roundhouse in Vancouver presented by Neworks/Dance Allsorts.
We will be sharing the stage with the Dancers of Damelahamid during this mixed program that will share our newest collaboration titled Confluence as well as excerpts of our current remount titled A Northern Journey (to be presented at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa in Spring 2013)

Upcoming Classes:
September 23rd – December 9th (Sundays) FREE!
We are so excited to be one of the artists-in-residence at the Roundhouse Community
Arts Centre in downtown Vancouver this Fall! From the Fall Equinox to the Winter
Solstice come dance with Raven Spirit Dance and instructors Michelle Olson & Starr
Muranko who will be teaching a contemporary Aboriginal dance class for dancers of
all levels of experience (including those trying out a class for the first time!)
Class description: We will explore movement grounded in intuition and imagination,
integrating First Nations dance and song with creative, open-ended explorations.
As we move towards the Winter Solstice, the presence of the dark brings us closer
to the light within.We will explore these themes through story and movement.

The classes will run from September 23rd – December 9th on Sundays from 2:30-4pm in the dance studio at the Roundhouse and will include the option of working together
towards a public sharing of our work-in-progress during the December Solstice
celebrations.

Classes are FREE to the public and you can find out more information and pre-register

Register early as class size is limited. No class on October 7th and November 11th.

Saturday November 24th at Creekside Community Centre 12:15-1:45pm Only $5!

Dance Allsorts workshop with Raven Spirit Dance & the Dancers of Damelahamid as
part of the Dance Allsorts programming.

Class Description: We will take you through a dynamic movement session exploring
contemporary dance and traditional West Coast song and dance. All levels of experience
are welcome. Please dress comfortably and wear socks, bare feet or moccasins. Click
